Though gas mileage is reduced by 10 to 15% with the use of e85, the price of e85 has traditionally been lower than unleaded gasoline.
Though flexible fuel is an option that can be ordered with a new vehicle at little or no extra cost, many people are not aware that their newer vehicles are e85 compatible. Check your vehicle owner's manual to see if you have a flexible fuel vehicle. If your manual does not state you can use e85, it is not compatible. If you are in the market for a new vehicle, the flexible fuel option may prove a sensible choice if available.
